1687 bottle caps, 84 one penny stamps, adhesive, grout, hardboard, pallet wood, cork
An overlooked work of art, blown up to gigantic proportions.
The humble stamp was the starting point for this 4m2 behemoth, which explores both our sense of scale and our sense of what we consider to be 'art' and what we consider to be ‘waste’. 1,687 bottle caps collected over months from the bars of Glasgow, washed, categorised, sorted and placed to create one portrait. Displayed at the Virginia Gallery's QUEENS exhibition in May 2012 to mark the Diamond Jubilee.
